free your skin from air pollution (pm2.5)
air pollution is one of the most challenging problems in the world. with regards, to beauty, air pollution stresses young and healthy skin. addressing the emerging needs of anti-pollution effect for beauty solutions, especially in asia market, covestro has developed formulations based on baycusan® c1004 (inci: polyurethane-35) for a new generation of skincare and decorative cosmetic products. as the polyurethane raw material forms an invisible film on skin with good air permeability, it can be added to the cosmetics to protect the skin from pollutants (pm2.5) through an invisible barrier.
particle pollution, or particulate matter (pm), is a mixture of solids and liquid droplets floating in the air. fine particles with 2.5 micrometers in diameter or smaller (pm 2.5) are produced from all types of combustion and consequently pollute the air. covestro´s pm 2.5 solution based on pu technology is superior to traditional anti-pollution solutions. once applied, the skin is provided a protective barrier to keep pore clean and skin safe. polyurethane invisible film, combined with other ingredients in the product, forms the sense of smooth skin feeling and provides a clean and gentle environment for the skin. polyurethane-35 is registered in chinese market. this technology is granted the technology innovation award under functional raw material category by pchi 2016.

highly effective sun protection cosmetics that give skin a silky feel are in greater demand than ever. consumers want transparent sunscreens in spray or gel form, because they can be spread over the skin more easily than lotions and form an invisible, but effective film. with the new, ethanol-based polyurethane film former baycusan® c 2000 (polyurethane-64), covestro has developed precisely the right product to meet these requirements.
just a small amount of this raw material added to sunscreen formulations significantly increases the sun protection factor in in vivo tests, showing an spf-boosting effect. consumers benefit from its high waterproof property, which is maintained even after repeated dips in the water. the formulations dry quickly, leaving skin feeling fantastic, and what’s more: they can be applied on wet skin.
